Ramgarh is a small hill station and tourist destination on the way to Mukteshwar in Uttarakhand, 300 kms from delhi.
This place is a beautiful orchard valley. An unobstructed view of the snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas can be seen from here. Ramgarh was once the cantonment of the English army. The famous poets Rabindra Nath Tagore and social worker Narain Swami had established their ashrams over here.
The house is very spacious, with many of the generously-sized rooms making extensive use of wood, lending it an Alpine and homely feel. There are Six large bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities. There is also a communal sitting room on each floor with a welcoming log fire for the chilly winter evenings. This substantial, recently-built property has been very stylishly decorated by the owner, who is a collector of antiques and fine glassware.
The gardens are special too, there is extensive planting of a wide range of flowering plants as well as peach, almond, apple and magnolia among many other trees and shrubs. The effect is that Ramgarh Retreat is a delightfully green place to be.
Ramgarh is located very close to Mukteshwar where you can visit the breathtaking view point or trek your way towards the beautiful bhalu gaad waterfall.
30 to 40 minute drive down and you reach the “lake district” of Kumaon –Bhimtal, Naukuchiatal, Sattal and of course, Nainital. All places have boating facilities as well as paragliding depending upon the season.
